After 6 whole years, Lady Gaga's iconic music video for 'Bad Romance' is still the most awarded video by a female artist in the history of the MTV Video Music Awards!
Beyoncé truly slayed at the 2016 VMAs at the Madison Square Garden in New York City on Sunday night by performing an epic 15-minute medley of tracks from her visual album 'Lemonade' and winning a total of eight major awards! Beyoncé won 6 moonmen for 'Formation', 1 for 'Hold Up', and 1 for 'Lemonade'.
Taking home eight awards, Beyoncé now joins Lady Gaga as most awarded female artist at the VMAs in a single night. However, Beyoncé's video for 'Formation' still failed to dethrone Lady Gaga's 2009 video for 'Bad Romance'. Despite of winning 6 awards at the 2016 VMAs including the award for Video of the Year, Beyoncé's 'Formation' still wasn't able to break Lady Gaga's record of winning a total of 7 awards for 'Bad Romance' back in 2010. So technically, Gaga's timeless video for 'Bad Romance' still owns the crown as the most awaded female video in VMA history!
Back in 2010, while wearing her iconic meat dress, Lady Gaga received 8 major awards at the VMAs including 7 moonmen for 'Bad Romance' and 1 for 'Telephone' which won the award for Best Collaboration with Beyoncé. Lady Gaga did not attend the 2016 MTV VMAs, however, her comeback to the music industry is now on the horizon with a brand new single called 'Perfect Illusion' coming out in the next few weeks.
