After weeks of rumours and speculations of a possible Lady Gaga performance at the Super Bowl halftime show, an official confirmation has finally arrived.
Today, Lady Gaga took to her social media accounts to announce that the 'rumours are true' and 'not an illusion'.
Fans were not able to hide their excitement on social media. Shortly after the announcement, the hashtag #GAGASUPERBOWL easily became one of the top trending hashtags worldwide.
Lady Gaga herself is also excited for her own Super Bowl gig. Posting a photo of herself on Instagram wearing an NFL shirt and a pink hat, Gaga expressed her excitement, captioning the photo: "It's a done deal! I can't wait to rock for YOU from Houston! Thank you Football fans and Music fans."
Earlier this month, Billboard reported exclusively that Lady Gaga is in talks to perform at the Halftime Show of the 51st Annual Super Bowl which is set to take place at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas on February 5, 2017. The magazine have cited that one of the main reasons why NFL is eyeing on Gaga is because of her highly acclaimed performance of the US National Anthem at the opening ceremony of the 2016 Super Bowl last February.
Her live performance of the US National Anthem on the recent Super Bowl was praised by critics in huge publications around the world. When asked about the performance during an interview with the National Football League earlier this year, Gaga said: "I've always wanted to sing the National Anthem at a major sporting event since I was a little girl, and for it to be the Super Bowl, it is the ultimate. This is one of the highest honors of my career."
