In a recent interview with the Huffington Post, director Ryan Murphy reveals that Lady Gaga's creepy Wood Witch character on 'American Horror Story: Roanoke' has some deep connections with a certain previous season of the award-winning TV series.
In the current Season 6, Lady Gaga plays the character of Scáthach, a deadly witch who practices old magic and lives with the Roanoke colony. Back in Season 3, we were told about the story of the 'Coven' women, the descendants of the Salem witches from the late 17th century, being leaded by their 'Supreme', a powerful witch charged with looking after her coven. Ryan Murphy revealed that Lady Gaga's character is the witch that starts the coven central to the show's third season, making her the original 'Supreme' of witches!
Unlike in Season 5, Lady Gaga's involvement in Season 6 is limited due to her busy schedule surrounding her new album. "I knew that this character was important to the mythology of the show, and I really wanted her to play that character", Murphy told the Huffington Post. The show's producer also revealed that Gaga's character as Scáthach will be explored in a future American Horror Story season, saying: "We're going to do a return to the 'Coven' season in some capacity. So that character will be further explored then". This "return-to-Coven" season will not take place in Season 7, however, Murphy promises that the AHS team will "definitely going to do it."
The next episode of 'American Horror Story: Roanoke' will air this Wednesday at 10pm EST. According to reports, this episode is going to be a "game-changing episode". So you better don't miss it! CLICK HERE FOR THE LIVE STREAM!
