An exclusive report from Us Weekly on Friday reveals that Lady Gaga is rumored to play Italian fashion designer Donatella Versace in the upcoming third season of U.S. anthology series 'American Crime Story'.
The celebrity and entertainment magazine reveals that a source has claimed that Lady Gaga will star as the fashion mogul in the show which is set to focus on the death of her brother, Gianni Versace who was murdered outside his mansion in Miami Beach in 1997. Eight days later, the suspect Andrew Cunanan, committed suicide by gunshot on a houseboat.
The rumor about Gaga starring as Donatella on the hit show began last month when Variety reported that the third installment of the series will relate the murder of Donatella's elder brother who founded the eponymous fashion house. During a panel at Entertainment Weekly's PopFest in Los Angeles last week, the show's executive producer Ryan Murphy hinted at a possible casting for the show. When the panel moderator suggested that Lady Gaga would be "the perfect Donatella", Murphy smiled and replied, "Ya think?".
Lady Gaga has a close friendship with Donatella Versace. Three years ago, she wrote a song dedicated to the designer. The song is called 'Donatella' and was featured on Gaga's 2013 album ARTPOP.
If Lady Gaga is indeed casted on 'American Crime Story', it won't be her first time to work with the show's creator Ryan Murphy. Gaga previously starred in the past two seasons of Murphy's hit show 'American Horror Story'.
