Despite reports last November, Lady Gaga will not star as Donatella Versace on the upcoming third season of 'American Crime Story', which is set to tell the story of the 1997 murder of fashion designer Gianni Versace, based on the book 'Vulgar Favors' by Maureen Orth.
During the Television Critics Association (TCA) winter press tour on Thursday (Jan 12), American screenwriter and director Ryan Murphy was asked by reporters if Lady Gaga would be playing fashion icon Donatella Versace on the show. The producer simply responded, "No".
"She's a friend. But she's very busy this year — she's doing Super Bowl and then she's doing 'A Star Is Born' and I believe that she's going on tour", Murphy told the press. "And when you're going to do a show like Versace, it's a five-month commitment, it's a very big show, we're shooting it all over the world. So I just don't think with her schedule, I knew that it would never had worked. But I would love to work with her on something in the future."
Gaga and Murphy have already worked together in the past. She starred in 'American Horror Story: Hotel' for which she won a Golden Globe. She also had a smaller role in the most recent 'American Horror Story: Roanoke'.
